March 19, 2013

One year ago we received an email w/ the subject: Murray/Elko Family: Ethiopia Court Date.

This email informed us that we finally had a court date in Ethiopia, scheduled for April 15th, 2013. Yes, this court date was important indeed; it was the step in the process that would potentially finalize our adoption in Ethiopia.

Equally as important, but infinitely more exciting, was that this was our first trip-- the trip that we would first meet Sweet M, first hold her, first hug her, and first look into her eyes.

I know so many people now that understand fully the anticipation between referral "Call" and court "email." Then there is the anticipation between the court "email" and actually traveling.

And so began the anticipation and preparation.

Meseret, these were the update pictures we had of you, as of one year ago, March 2013. It brought such happy tears to receive these:

This was the first we saw of you since your referral picture that we received in November 2012.
We had asked for a picture of you without a hat on.  We were so, so eager to see that head of hair.
This is one of my most favorite pictures of you, Sweet M.

This picture came to us just before we received the "court email."
When we saw this picture of you,
we had no idea we would be learning of our court date just a few days after receiving it.

This one came to us a couple days after the court email, when you first arrived at Horizon House.
Oh, how nice it is to see you smile!
Even though she is not pictured,
the person holding you gave you so much love and care while you were at HH.
You look at her pictures in your picture book each and every day, pointing her out by name.

We really had no idea what a treat we were in for.  In a matter of weeks we would travel to Ethiopia, meet you, spend a week with you, be treated like family at Horizon House, meet a few new friends, meet your "house mates," see some of Addis Ababa, and travel to see a small piece of the beauty that is Ethiopia.
